1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302

Title: 1970 Boss 302 Mustang Solid Body Project

Mileage: 100,000 miles

Location: College Park, MD

1970 Gold Boss 302 Mustang. I have the Marti Report for this Boss and this is how it was built with VIN #0T02G152142: Boss 302 (code G), bright gold metallic paint (code K), black deluxe knit woodgrain interior w/clock (code EA), 3.50 traction-lok 9-inch rear (code S), 4-speed close ratio trans (code 6), fold down rear seat, AM/FM stereo w/door speakers, décor group and convenience group. This Boss was produced January 20, 1970.

This is a solid project Boss 302. It has the Boss reinforced shock towers and staggered rear shocks. All sheet metal is original to this car except for the new floors and a re-skined driver door. The body is solid. The doors close nicely. The frame rails are all rust free including the front shock towers, torque boxes, floor supports, front rails and rear frame rails. Parts of the floors have been replaced (see photo). The original quarters are decent and this car is not full of bondo. However, the driver rear quarter has some rust/bondo on the very bottom (see photo). Also, the passenger door has some rust in both lower corners (see photo). This is minor rust below the driver rear tail light. The hood and trunk lid are very nice with no rust. The front fenders have no rust and are the original flared Boss 302 fenders. The vin# is clearly stamped on the passenger inner apron and original Ford vin# tag is on the dash. The motor in this car is NOT a Boss 302, but just a regular 302. It has all the clutch linkage and bellhousing with a new Centerforce clutch installed. It has a new long gas line and gas tank. The clutch pedal action is good and tight. I do NOT have a transmission for this car and the rear is a 28 spline 9-inch. It has a good radiator. The cowl is very nice and rust free. The passenger door glass is nice and lines up good when closed. The driver door glass is out. This is how I purchased this Boss last year. I do not have a front windshield. All the fold down seat parts are there. I believe it has the original AM/FM radio. Steering feels tight and I believe that when I install a transmission, this car would be drivable as is. So this is my starting point!

My first car in 1978 was gold (I called it butternut) 1970 Boss 302 with deluxe ginger interior, and I regretted selling it to stay in college ever since it drove away. Ford made 337 gold Boss 302s in 1970. Deluxe interior Boss 302s are rare at under 10 percent of production. AM/FM stereo is very rare. I looked a long time for another gold Boss 302 with deluxe interior and I purchased this car last year.

Ford : Mustang BOSS 302 1970 Ford Mustang Matching Fully Restored Boss 302 !

Shaped by a thoroughbred racing history more distinguished than nearly any other American factory built special, the Boss 302 has become a legend for its ferocious Trans Am series performance, as well as, one of the most highly sought after collector cars of our time.
Conceived in response to initial defeats in the American Trans Am series, the Ford Mustang Boss 302, named after stylist Larry Shinod’s nickname for then Ford President Semon “Bunkie” Knudson, the venerable limited production Boss 302 would do much to regain Ford’s reputation for “Total Performance”.
